“Ukiyoe House”
Mezame Kyoto, an “Ukiyoe art” gallery guest house welcomes you to a cozy and relaxing space with the essence of Ukiyoe art. Ukiyoe is a genre style of wood-block printing developed in the Edo period. It depicts the Japanese landscape and the everyday life of commoners with audacious composition and bright colors. It was groundbreaking media for those people of that time and has attracted many overseas artists such as Monet and Van Gogh.
